Torque Tester and Torque Wrench
Torque wrenches and torque testers are tools used for measuring and controlling torque (rotational force) during the assembly and disassembly of bolts, nuts, and other fasteners. Torque is expressed in units such as Newton-meters (Nm) or lb-ft and indicates the force applied to a rotating object.
Torque Wrenches
A torque wrench is a tool that allows for the application of a specific torque to bolts or nuts. These wrenches are equipped with a mechanism that "clicks" or provides another indication when the desired torque is reached. A torque wrench can be adjustable, allowing the user to set the torque value according to requirements.
Types of torque wrenches:
- Click-type wrenches – The most commonly used torque wrenches, which emit a sound signal or provide a tactile feedback when the set torque is reached.
- Digital wrenches – Wrenches that display the torque value on a digital display.
- Analog wrenches – Have a gauge that shows the torque on a scale.
- Fixed torque wrenches – These wrenches have a fixed torque setting and cannot be adjusted.
Torque Testers
Torque testers are devices used to check the torque applied to a specific object. These testers are usually used in laboratories or for testing and verifying the accuracy of torque wrenches. They offer more precise and sensitive measuring capabilities than regular torque wrenches and are used for calibration or accuracy verification.
Torque testers can come in various forms, from mechanical devices to digital systems that record and evaluate torque during testing. They are used for testing tools and equipment that apply torque.
Applications
Torque wrenches and testers are used in various fields, such as:
- Automotive industry – For assembling wheels, engine parts, and other components where precise torque is essential.
- Aerospace industry – In the manufacture and maintenance of aircraft, where precise torque specifications are crucial.
- Engineering – For assembling various machines and equipment where proper rotational force is critical for safety and performance.
- Maintenance and repairs – When replacing or maintaining parts, ensuring proper assembly without damaging materials.
These tools are essential for ensuring the correct application of forces and preventing damage to parts due to improper tightening.
